Drama Elective
In the Ancient Paths’ Drama elective, students students will apply and engage their grammar, logic and rhetoric skills as they study the elements of acting and stagecraft. They will memorize lines, analyze the motives behind characters actions and words, and learn to perform in front of an audience. Students will learn by doing acting games, performing and memorizing monologues, and acting scenes from Shakespeare. In the second semester students will put on a performance of “A Midsummer Nights Dream” in the original Shakespeare (slightly shortened and edited for age appropriateness.) There will be auditions for roles in the second semester performance. Truth, beauty and eloquence are the foundational standards that inspire us to pursue excellence and have fun. No prior experience is necessary. Just a good attitude and work ethic!
This course is available to 2nd grade students and older. Students in our upper school track are encouraged to participate as well. Families wanting to enroll their child in the Applied Mathematics elective should complete the form linked below. The elective will meet after school on Fridays until 3:15 from October 3rd-December 12 and January 9 - April 10. Cost is $50 per semester. After filling out the enrollment form, you will receive an invoice for the elective. Payment for an elective course is due before the beginning of the elective classes.
Applied Mathematics
In the Ancient Paths’ Applied Mathematics elective, students will have the opportunity to study under elite engineers and designers currently working in the applied mathematics field. In the first semester, students will be challenged to apply the mathematical arts beyond what they are doing in our typical classroom and work as a team through hands-on projects utilizing computer programming. In the second semester they will work as a team through hands-on projects utilizing simple machines, robotics, as well as, analog and digital sensors.
This course is available to 4th grade students and older. Students in our upper school track are encouraged to participate as well. Families wanting to enroll their child in the Applied Mathematics elective should complete the form linked below. The elective will meet after school on Fridays until 3:30 from October 3rd-December 5 and February 6 - April 10. Cost is $250 total and includes both semesters. After filling out the enrollment form, you will receive an invoice for the elective. Payment for an elective course is due before the beginning of the elective classes.
